State Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon is blaming Governor Bobby Jindal for debt notices going out to more than a million Louisiana residents.
An angry Donelon says consumers should call the Governor’s office. He says this is an effort by the Governor to recoup some $400 million to plug up a huge hole in the state budget. The state claims the money is owed by drivers who let their insurance lapse, but Donelon says there are no records to prove or disprove the information.
Meanwhile, State Representative Lance Harris of Alexandria says he’s been told the state is working on a solution to the problem, but he’s not yet heard back from Baton Rouge.
