Hwy. 1 Construction Halfway Completed

We now have an update on the construction of Highway 1 near the casino in Marksville. State highway officials say the two-year widening project is halfway done and the nearly four-mile stretch from Mansura to Marksville should be completed a year from November.

The highway is being widened from 2 to 5 lanes to accommodate the more than 13-thousand vehicles that travel that distance per day now.
