House Passes “Common Core Compromise”

A bill is now headed to the house floor in Baton Rouge to provide what backers call a common core compromise. It would set up a series of hearings to create a blend of tests that would be approved by June of next year.

The House Education Chairman called the day historical for the state. Proponents say it combines the desires of those who want a locally generated test and those who want to see school children challenged to meet higher standards.
