Grant Police Say Woman Was Unconscious Before Dog Mauling

The cause of death has been confirmed for an elderly woman who Grant Deputies initially believed was killed by stray dogs.

Sheriff Steven McCain of the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office, says Mrs. Bobby Cheveallier of Pollock was found the day before Thanksgiving with bites to her lower torso.

After several tests, Sheriff McCain says it appears she was unconscious before the stray dogs entered her back yard and bit her.  He did say a number of dogs captured during the investigation have been euthanized, and there have been no further reports of attacks or incidents.
