Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office announces the arrests of Latesha Boseman, age 20, of New Llano, Conrad Patterson, age 25, of Fort Polk, Marcus Holmes Jr, age 19, of Fort Polk, and Alex Taliaferro, age 20, of Fort Polk.
The arrests are a result of a joint investigation between the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office and the New Llano Police Department.
The Vernon Parish 911 emergency service center received a 911 call at approximately 05:00 a.m. on Saturday, February, 1, 2014.
The caller indicated that several gun shots had been fired at her apartment complex located in New Llano.
Officers with the New Llano Police Department and Deputies with the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office responded and observed a late model sedan with damage believed to be have been caused by the gun shots.
Officers were advised by witnesses at the scene that a late model Cadillac sedan was seen leaving the apartment complex at the time of the incident.
Officers began to canvas the area in an attempt to locate the suspect vehicle. The Military Police were contacted and provided with a description of the vehicle. A short time later military police officers located the vehicle as it attempted to pass through the gates at Fort Polk.
All four suspects were detained by the MP’s and a firearm was located within the vehicle. The four suspects were transported from Fort Polk to the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office where they were arrested and booked into the VPSO jail.
All four suspects were charged with Assault by Drive by Shooting, Illegal discharge of a firearm, Criminal Damage to Property, and Criminal Conspiracy to commit a drive by shooting. All four suspects remain in the Vernon Parish Jail at the time of this release as no bond amount has been set at this time.
There were no reports of injuries at the scene. The victim’s vehicle did suffer significant damage as a result of the incident. Detectives also located what is believed to be a gunshot point of entry in the side of the apartment building. Detectives and Deputies did process the scene for forensic evidence.
This matter is still under investigation by Detectives with the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office and there is a possibility that the suspects may be face additional charges.
