The employees of PRIDE Industries at Fort Polk are hosting the 2nd annual Fort Polk Buddy Ball Tournament Saturday, September 21st at 10:00AM at Pickering High School with games beginning at 10AM. The tournament is free and open to children ages 5-18.
We are asking for volunteers to coach and assist the children playing by being a “Buddy”, or to simply come out and cheer on the players. Join us in giving local kids with and without disabilities a chance to play America’s pastime!
Each child will receive a T-Shirt and a trophy for participating. To register a child to play on a team or to volunteer to be a “buddy” please call Kristi Schoen at 337-531-4462 or Bradley Geltz at 337-353-6537.
Officials will contact parents the week of September 9, 2013 to give more information including team assignments and practice times.
Snacks and refreshments will be available for sale. The money raised from this event helps fund Youth Foster Care Programs, scholarships, tools and training equipment for individuals with disabilities, plus tons of other worthy causes. Come out and watch the games, be a buddy to a special needs kid or sponsor a team!
PRIDE Industries is a nonprofit company providing base support services to Ft. Polk while creating employment opportunity for individuals with disabilities, including veterans.
All proceeds from the tournament will go to PRIDE Industries Foundation to support employment services for people with disabilities.
