Firefighters Investigate 3rd Home Fire in a Week

Firefighters are investigating what caused a home to catch fire this morning.

Fire officials responded to a duplex located on the 17-hundred block of Marye Street in the Garden District of Alexandria around 7:30am. After firefighters doused the blaze, the structure was a total loss.

Initial reports indicate the fire was sparked by a child playing with candles.

According to officials, this is the third residential fire in Alexandria in the last week.

Fortunately, nobody was injured.
