Fats Domino’s Piano Unveiled in New Orleans

It’s taken years, but a piece of American music history has been restored to its rightful glory. Fats Domino’s white grand piano was unveiled in a ceremony at the old U.S. mint Thursday in New Orleans.
The piano was almost destroyed during Hurricane Katrina. It cost $30,000 to pretty much rebuild the instrument. But Domino’s daughter, Andrea Brimmer, thinks it was worth it.
“I look at this as a rebuilding and a renewal of the city,” says Brimmer.
The repair money came from several sources including Paul McCartney and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The piano was expected to become part of a larger display at the mint that will also include instruments that belonged to Louis Armstrong.
