The Perks of Publishing by Tommie Townsley
Do you have an idea for a children’s book? Learn the process from conception to book shelf. Tommie Townsley, CEO and Publisher of Ally-Gator BookBites Publishing House, host a talk, “The Perks of Publishing”, at Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center Wednesday, August 29; doors will open at 5:30 with the program beginning at 6:00 pm. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. Topics will cover editorial, layout, illustration, marketing, distribution, and professional consulting.
Townsley owns Ally-Gator BookBites, a boutique children’s bookstore in downtown Lake Charles. She strives to teach and inspire children everywhere about Louisiana and its unique culture with her charming “Cajun Tales”. Presently, she has written and published seven children’s books. While she has many varied interests, she is totally dedicated to the importance of reading to children. Townsley believes that every child has the potential to do great things, with reading being the key!
“The Perks of Publishing” is held in conjunction with “Childhood Classics: 100 Years of Children’s Book Illustrations” currently on exhibit through September 15.
Historic City Hall is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are gladly accepted.
