Prepared Childbirth Class

May 19: Prepared Childbirth Class, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Gallery Room in the Medical Terrace at Rapides Regional Medical Center. This one-day class, taught by a certified childbirth instructor, prepares couples for the actual delivery. Topics include stages of labor and delivery, when to go to the hospital, pain management, assisted delivery, Cesarean birth as well as a tour of Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital. May is National Stroke Awareness Month. A stroke occurs nearly every 40 seconds, and a fatal stroke occurs approximately every 4 minutes. May is designated National Stroke Awareness Month as strokes can happen to anyone at any time, regardless of race, sex or age. During May, learn the signs and symptoms of stroke by remembering to think “FAST” – Face drooping, Arm weakness, Slurred speech, Time to call 9-1-1. The sooner a stroke patient receives medical treatment, the better their odds of making a recovery. Rapides Regional Medical Center is certified as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission.
