LSUA TO HOST NATIONAL DAY OF RACIAL HEALING EVENT
Alexandria, LA – LSUA will host its first National Day of Racial Healing event on Tuesday, January 23 from noon until 1:00pm on the Quad.
The event will feature a moment of silence followed by Sibyl Holt speaking on racial healing and what we can do as a community and university. Students will also be able to do a photo or video commentary on their own pledge for racial healing.
The National Day of Racial Healing was established in January 2017 by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation as an extension of its ongoing Truth, Racial, Healing & Transformation (TRHT) efforts. Through a wide range of events, discussions and activities, groups brought together by civic, community, government and private organizations will focus on healing the wounds created by conscious and unconscious bias (racial, ethnic and religious). The National Day of Racial Healing is a call to action for people to come together and begin the dialogue.
Community members are invited to attend. There will be a small reception for community members only after the event in the Art Gallery at 1:00pm.
