Lecture by two MSU Professors

McNeese State University professors, Dr. Janet Allured and Dr. Carrie Chrisco, will host a lecture at Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center, in conjunction with their photographic exhibition currently on display. The event will take place on Wednesday, January 24, the doors will open at 5:30 and the program will begin at 6:00 pm. Admission is free and a reception will follow the lecture.
The Personal is Political: Portraits of Louisiana Second-Wave Feminists consists of 38 portraits that showcase Louisiana women who have been working since the 1970s to make their state a more equitable place. Dr. Allured, Professor of History and Women’s Studies, met the women in the exhibition during the years she researched her 2016 book, Remapping Second-Wave Feminism: The Long Women’s Rights Movement in Louisiana, 1950-1997. Dr. Chrisco, Associate Professor of Mass Communication, photographed the women in the exhibit. The project was funded by the Juliet Hardtner Endowed Professorship. The exhibition will hang in the first floor gallery through March 3.
Historic City Hall is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are gladly accepted.
