A Streetcar Named Desire

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University Theatre and Dance will perform “A Streetcar Named Desire” March 14-18 and 21-24 in Theatre West. Performance times at 7:30 p.m. on March 14-17 and 21-24 with a 2 p.m. matinee on March 18.

Tickets are $15, $12 for children and seniors and Northwestern State, BPCC@NSU and Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts students are admitted free with a current student I.D. Students must reserve tickets in Room 108 of the Old Wing of the A.A. Fredericks Fine Arts Center or e-mail Wanda Lucas at with their student I.D. number and date they plan to attend. The winner of the 1948 Pulitzer, “A Streetcar Named Desire” is often regarded as one of the finest plays of the 20th century, and is generally considered Tennessee Williams’ greatest work. Williams’ sultry story of passion revolves around faded Southern belle Blanche Dubois’ visit to her sister in a seedy section of New Orleans. On the fringes of sanity, Blanche is trying to forget her checkered past and start life anew. Tensions rise as the web of lies closes in on her, leading to a shocking climax that will change them all forever. Dr. Vicki Parrish is the director.

The cast is Tova Volcheck of Bossier City as Blanche Dubois, Austin Pecot of Luling as Stanley, Sidney Gilder of Crowley as Stella, Connor Loar of Abita Springs as Mitch, Rachel Rudd of Pineville as Eunice, Chase Crane of Livingston as Steve, Emmanuel Dunn of Baton Rouge as Patrick, Thomas Haderiga of Littleton, Colorado, as a young man, Kella Rowan of Baton Rouge as the nurse, Nic Hebert of Larose as the doctor, Laura Guzman of Cartagena, Colombia, as Louisa and Shari Wilson of Many as Estelle.

Selene Allain Kovacs of Jeanerette is the stage manager with Olivia Mosley of Alexandria and Wilson as assistant stage managers. Ellie Mandel of New Orleans is the scenic designer, Julia LeGrande of Farmerville is the costumer with Madeline Mullins of Baton Rouge handling props and Desmond Moss of Covington is the sound designer.
