VILLE PLATTE — Join the park staff for the monthly Dutch oven cooking demonstration held on the first Saturday of each month at Chicot State Park. This month’s Dutch Oven Gathering (D.O.G.) will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 9 am until noon at Pavilion 1.
There are many ways to cook outdoors and if you are interested in trying something different then you may want to attend this Dutch oven cooking demonstration at Chicot State Park. This method of cooking, used by early American settlers, can be utilized to cook just about anything you can cook in your indoor kitchen. This month we will have a Cuban theme and cooking black beans and rice.
Participants will be able to sample the food and learn first hand how to use these outdoor black pots. Everyone is welcome to attend whether they cook or not.
