Drug Bust in Natchitoches

DrugsNews Release – Domestic disturbance leads to the arrest of a Natchitoches man and the recovery of approximately $100,000 worth of drugs and currency.

On the 26th of August, 2015, a Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Patrol Deputy was flagged down at the residence of 227 Shoreline Street in Natchitoches in reference to a domestic disturbance. As Deputies were investigating the situation they were advised that Darris Adams, who resided at the residence, possessed a large quantity of illicit drugs. After receiving this information, the Natchitoches Drug Task Force and Natchitoches Police Department were called to assist.

As additional units arrived, Agents located 3 of Adams’ children and another male, who was not involved, in the residence. Task Force Agents were familiar with Adams due to previous narcotics related arrests, and after receiving additional information a search warrant was obtained for Adams’ residence. During this search Agents recovered approximately 10 ounces of suspected methamphetamine ice, 3,599 suspected Alprazolam tablets, 815 suspected Ecstacy tablets, 117 suspected Hydrocodone tablets, and 3 grams of suspected marijuana, having a total street value in upwards of $100,000.00. Agents also recovered $9,362.00 in U.S. Currency hidden in various locations throughout the residence.

As a result, Adams was taken into custody and charged with the following criminal offenses:

  • Simple Possession of CDS I Marijuana
  • Possession of CDS I with the Intent to Distribute Ecstacy
  • Possession of CDS II with the Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
  • Possession of CDS II with the Intent to Distribute Hydrocodone
  • Possession of CDS IV with the Intent to Distribute Alprazolam
  • Second Subsequent Offense (Marijuana)
  • Possession of CDS in the Presence of Juveniles

Adams is currently being held in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center awaiting bond.
