This is the busiest time of year for State Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon. He’s in Natchitoches today for the Natchitoches Chamber of Commerce. He and other business leaders talked about how hurricanes affect the insurance business in this state.
He’s speaking as Hurricane Dolly slams into Mexico, and we’re just now nine years after Hurricane Katrina debilitated the gulf coast, including New Orleans.
Sometimes called the forgotten hurricane, Rita also hit in 2005 and caused severe damage to Southwest Louisiana and East Texas.
Donelon says the website for his office provides a lot of information for homeowners and renters about protecting their property from hurricanes. We are now in the peak of the season.
