Deputies: String of Crimes Started with Drink of Water

They’re 27-year-old Robert Wayne Higginbotham and 22-year-old Ashley Leeann Hilliard, both of Alexandria.
The elderly victim tells deputies the couple was at his home when they asked for a drink of water. Deputies say that led to unauthorized use of the victim’s large SUV and a checkbook.
The couple was spotted and stopped, when Higginbotham reportedly tried to get away.
He’s also been linked to the unauthorized use of another vehicle. He’s accused of unauthorized use of a vehicle, forgery, theft, unauthorized use of an access card, conspiracy and escape. Hilliard is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, drugs, theft, unauthorized use of an access card and conspiracy.
