Dance recital at NSU to explore the four elements

FourElementsNATCHITOCHES  — Northwestern Theatre and Dance will present “The Four Elements” April 25-26 in the A.A. Fredericks Auditorium. Performance time is April 25 at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. show on April 26.

Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors over 65 and children 12 and under. Admission is free to students enrolled in NSU, the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts and Bossier Parish Community College@NSU with current ID and sticker.

The four elements, which will be explored through original choreography are “Air,” by Kirstin Riehl, “Fire” and “Water” by Brett Garfinkel and “Earth,” by Rebecca Morgan. “Air” features ballet while “Fire” consists of jazz dance. Modern dance will be showcased in “Water” and both tap and contemporary will be featured in “Earth.”

“As choreographers, this allowed us to incorporate nature’s beauty into dance movement,” said Riehl. “We have all enjoyed this artistic journey that has allowed us to fuse our individual choreographic styles into an evening that will enchant our audience.”

The dance company includes Will Applewhite of Little Elm, Texas, L.G. Williams II, Courtney Matthews and Clinisha Chandler of New Orleans, Claire Cook, Taylor Walker, Rachel Taylor and Alisha Munds of Shreveport, Kristen Richardson of Kaplan, Tori Cormier of Lake Charles, Kacey Garrett of Slidell, Marlee Roberts and Apryl Jenkins of Natchitoches, Ashley Wolf of Destrehan, Marissa McMickens of Pineville.
