Rapides district attorney Phillip Terrell is named Law Officer of the Year by Crime Stoppers. The group held its annual appreciation luncheon, honoring area law enforcement and public officials.
It handed out almost $14,000 in rewards last year for tips and earned 17 arrests.
Terrell was honored especially for his program, which seeks help for those affected by drugs and alcohol. He says he always looks for a way to route an offender to counseling or rehabilitation if it’s warranted.
