Crack Cocaine Discovered on Traffic Stop
On Wednesday, Rapides deputies seized approximately ¼ of a “cookie” of crack cocaine.
Deputies working criminal patrol in the Alexandria area recognized Carlin Burns driving a vehicle near Deerfield and Wood Hollow Drive in Alexandria.
Burns was arrested in December 2013 for Driving Under Suspension among other violations. Deputies knew Burns had no valid driver’s license which was confirmed through a computer record check, and initiated a traffic stop. Deputies received consent to search the vehicle and located a magnetic hide a key box that contained the crack cocaine and a razor blade.
32-year-old Carlin Demond Burns of Alexandria was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Burns is charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and no driver’s license. He was later released on a ,500 bond.
