Court: State Senate Violated Meeting Laws in Huey Long Decision

A lawsuit is in the works challenging the shuttering of Huey Long Hospital in Pineville.

Local attorney Chris Roy Senior says the ruling out of Baton Rouge is significant and not the hollow victory described by one area lawmaker. It basically says the state senate violated the open meetings law when it voted to shut down the historic structure.

The hospital is almost closed with patients being directed to clinics set up by Cabrini and Rapides Regional. But Roy says he and his clients will pursue efforts to keep it alive.
