Construction to Begin on I-49 in Rapides Parish
Tomorrow
This will start with temporary lane closures from the Willow Glen Interchange to mile marker 77.
The entire construction project will take almost a year.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that beginning Wednesday June 11, 2014 at 7:00 AM, weather permitting, construction work will begin on I-49 in Rapides Parish from LA 181 to LA 498. The Project will consist of superpave asphaltic concrete pavement, cold planning asphaltic concrete, pavement patching, guardrail, and related work. The construction is expected to last approximately one year and alternating temporary lane closures can be expected throughout the length of the project.
The first proposed location of work will begin on the right lane of I-49 Southbound from Mile Marker 81 (Willow Glen Interchange) to Mile Marker 77.
Subsequent press releases will follow to inform the public of additional closures.
Permit/Detour section
Local and through traffic will be maintained at all times. Therefore, there are no designated detours at this time.
Starting Monday, June 16, 2014 no permitted loads greater than 12’ will be allowed through the construction site.
