Complaint Filed Regarding Old Weiss & Goldring Building Downtown

A complaint is filed in Downtown Alexandria about the old Weiss and Goldring building.

Alexandria Attorney Mike Tudor is asking the city to immediately ascertain whether homeless people are making fires inside the building and causing a hazard. Tudor also says he and his clients want the building inspected for code violations. He says the water tower atop the building is unstable, and he and his clients who are near the building want the old building repaired, re-developed, or razed.

The building was sold in 2008 to a businessman who had said he wanted to use it for offices.

The city has responded that it will do an inspection, though there is no indication that will be done immediately.
