It’s letter-signing day in Central Louisiana to support Fort Polk.
Community officials are urging everyone to sign letters of support to save Fort Polk. It’s in danger of losing an entire brigade of more than 65 hundred soldiers because of federal budget cuts. Officials say this would be an economic catastrophe.
They’re hoping to increase the number of letters sent the last time this happened. Banks offered their services to the Chamber and to Fort Polk Progress, which is heading up the drive. Michael Reese, the head of Fort Polk Progress, spoke to the Rotary Club today.
Reese is the CEO of a moving company that is directly dependent on the military base for his company’s livelihood.
