The City’s Recreation Department has begun to clean up around the Leesville Municipal Pool in anticipation of handing off the maintenance of the pool to American Pool Services.

“While the Leisure Pool, with its zero depth entry, is perfect for parents and their small children, we know that adults, teens and adolescents will enjoy the Municpal Pool, which is 25 yards long and features depths up to 10 feet as well as a diving board,” said Joiner. The larger pool’s occupancy is 25 people.

Joiner said that sessions for both pools will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Both pools will have only one session on Wednesdays and Sundays from 1 p.m to 5 p.m. and both pools will be closed on Mondays.

Lifeguards will be on duty at both pools.

Admission at the Municipal Pool is $2 per person per session. Admission at the Leisure Pool is $3.75 per person per session.

Pool parties will also be available for both locations from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays. The rates are $150 for 1-50 people; $175 for 51-75 people.

Last year, the staff of the Leisure Pool often turned people away because of occupancy limits, said Joiner. About 30-50 people visited the pool per day during the season, not including parties.

“I expect the same kind of attendance at the larger pool,” he said. “It’s just all about getting the word out.”

The pools’ seasons are expected to run through Labor Day weekend.
