City of Alexandria Continues Preparations for Tropical Storm Harvey

Alexandria, Louisiana— Residents are reminded of the importance of not driving down flooded streets and to remain vigilant to ever-changing weather conditions. Make plans now in case it becomes necessary for you and your family to evacuate on short notice. Make any last-minute preparations tonight just in case.

Drainage issues or concerns should be directed to Streets & Drainage during normal business hours (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.); after hours complaints can be phoned in to 473-1301. Please refrain from posting requests for service on social media!

The City and the Rapides Parish Office of Emergency Management have coordinated the location and staffing of shelters inside Alexandria should they be needed. Self-serve sandbags remain available at Cheatham Park, Johnny Downs, Martin Park, and City Park (Bringhurst).

Prescott Road between Mohon and Roanoke will be closed for the duration of this storm event. Prescott Road traffic may detour via Mohon, Dawn, and Roanoke.
