LA Folklife Center seeks traditional recipes for cookbook

NATCHITOCHES – The Louisiana Folklife Center is seeking help as it updates the Natchitoches-Northwestern State University Folk Festival Cookbook and invites the public to submit recipes for consideration.  Personal stories about the recipe are also welcome.

Driver’s education class to be offered in March and April at NSU

[ March 25, 2014 7:30 am to March 28, 2014 4:30 pm. April 18, 2014 to April 27, 2014. ] NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Office of Electronic and Continuing Education will offer two separate sessions of driver’s education this spring. Olla Elementary Class Gathers Can Tabs for St. Jude’s

Students at Olla Elementary gathered almost 500 pounds of can tabs to support Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  These students are members of Mary Thompson’s third grade class, and the fundraiser was sponsored by NSU.

Monday concert to honor music of Charles Mingus

Flutist Emily Butterfield to perform Thursday

[ February 20, 2014; ] NATCHITOCHES – Flutist Dr. Emily Butterfield of the University of Central Oklahoma will perform at Northwestern State University Thursday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

NSU To Go Smoke-Free

Another Central Louisiana university will go smoke-free.  Northwestern says it will rid itself of tobacco by August 1st.  LSU of Alexandria made the announcement last week to do the same.
It will cover all interior spaces at NSU and branch campuses, all vehicles, moving or parked, and apply to faculty, staff, students and visitors.

2nd Annual Spring Music Festival coming to NSU Campus
