NSU President Candidate Short List Released

The short list is released for the next NSU President. Lisa Abney is provost at NSU; James Henderson is Chancellor of Bossier Community College; Linda Rinker is Provost at Davenport University; and Renva Watterson is Interim President of Georgia Highlands College.
Final selection will be made at a special meeting on September 23rd in Baton Rouge. [...]

NSU Presidential Candidate List Grows to 12

The pool of candidates for President of NSU grows from 9 to a dozen. The search firm added 3 to the list after the search committee requested a larger pool of applicants.
That committee meets tomorrow to narrow the field to a short list.

Mid-Century Architecture Included in NSU Historic District

Officials from Louisiana’s Division of Historic Preservation, administrators and local preservationists witnessed the presentation of an official listings certificate that designates portions of Northwestern State University included in the expanded Northwestern State University Historic District. From left are Kirk Cordell, executive director of the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training;  NSU President Dr. Randall J. Webb, Sharon Gahagan, chairman of the Historic District Commission, Dr. Patrick Widhalm, executive director of the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts, and project coordinator Tom Whitehead.

NSU To Review 9-Person List for New President

The NSU Presidential Search Committee meets Thursday to review a nine-person list of potential candidates to be on the short list for president. The school is seeking a successor by the end of September.

Friends of NSU invited to join band in Ireland in 2015

NSU Becomes Tobacco-Free Campus

Northwestern State University becomes a tobacco free campus Friday. This prohibits all tobacco on the campuses.
The school has had a prohibition on smoking within 25 feet of buildings and the athletic facility. Now the ban covers all interior spaces and applies to all students, faculty, staff, guests and workers.
Violators can be fined.

12 Year Old Named Grand Fiddle Champion

Winners in the Louisiana State Fiddle Championship held during the Natchitoches-NSU Folk Festival were, from left, Carson Taylor, first;  Hal Mayfield, second place, and Ron Pace, third place.

Julia Taylor and Carson Taylor are pictured with their fiddle teacher Steve Cannon. Taylor won the Non-Championship Round playing an original waltz and Carson won the Louisiana State Fiddle Championship.

NSU To Close for Independence Day

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University will be closed Friday, July 4 for Independence Day. Classes will resume and administrative offices will reopen Monday, July 7.
