Plane Crash Kills One, Injures Another

An elderly man is dead and another person is badly injured in a small plane crash yesterday morning in Natchitoches Parish. 83-year-old Thaddeus Longlois died and 80-year-old Jack McCain Junior was injured.   Both are from Natchitoches.
Authorities say they crashed in a field behind homes in the Pan Am Subdivision in south Natchitoches.

Federal prison officials are looking for 26-year-old inmate who they say walked away from the prison camp yesterday. Juan Garza is five-eight, 155 pounds, and was housed in the prison’s minimum-security area.

Jury Selection Begins Monday in Sanders Trial

Jury selection is to begin Monday in Alexandria Federal Court for the capital murder trial of Thomas Steven Sanders.
Sanders is accused of killing 12-year-old Lexis Roberts, whose body was found in Catahoula Parish in October 2010. Her mother’s body was found about a month later in Arizona.

Area law enforcement agents are looking for a disabled man from Sugartown in Beauregard Parish.
77-year-old Kelly Reeves was last seen more than a week ago at his home.
He is visually impaired, has a speech impediment and may be confused about his whereabouts, because he also has dementia. He’s 5’4” and weighs around 140 pounds.

Road Work to Begin on Jackson Street

Roadwork on Jackson Street begins early Monday between 18th and 20th Streets.
Public work employees are replacing sewer manholes. Detours around the waste-water project will be marked both north and south.

Interim Pineville Marshall Seeks Election in November

The woman serving as interim Pineville and Ward Marshal will run for the full term in November. She took over after the recent sudden death of Marshal Larry Jeane.
