RPSO Alerts Public to Warrant Scam

Scam Alert

Scammers are targeting people in our area over the phone.
The Rapides Sheriff’s Office says crooks are calling and claiming to be from the department. They claim you owe money over outstanding warrants.
They office says it never collects such money over the phone, so please do not give such callers any money.

A man accused of firearm crimes will remain in federal custody.
In August, Catahoula deputies say they seized explosives and automatic weapons from 55-year-old Bill Wesley Womack’s home in Jonesville.

A south Louisiana man is arrested for 36 counts of harassing telephone language. He’s 27-year-old Frankie Josh Billiot of Houma.
Rapides deputies say the calls began in early September, and though the man was warned, he continued to phone the victim at all hours of the day and night.

Alexandria police make an arrest for counterfeit money. He’s 30-year-old Tyrone Wesley of Alexandria, who was arrested over the weekend in the area of Bolton Avenue and Magnolia Street.
Police say they found four, 20-dollar bills and one, one-dollar bill on him suspected of being fake.

Fiery Crash in Vernon Parish Kills 2

A fiery crash in Vernon Parish kills two people yesterday morning.
Troopers are not yet able to release the names, but it happened on West Hawthorne near Highway 171.
