Dardenne Speaks on Tourism, Hospitals

Missing Opelousas Man Found Dead in South LA


A missing Opelousas man is found dead in a crashed vehicle in Jefferson Davis Parish.
Troopers say 63-year-old Carroll Gobert apparently ran off the interstate and hit several trees. The SUV was apparently hidden by the trees. Gobert was reported missing Friday.

APD Search for Man Missing Since March


Alexandria Police are searching for a man missing since March 3rd.
He’s 51-year-old Anthony Tannehill, who is 5’5” and weighs 150 pounds. He was last seen by his family in March.

Voters Approve Property Taxes on Ballot Saturday

Voters were in a giving mood during Saturday’s elections.
Alexandria voters approved a new property tax for recreation and for the Alexandria Zoo.  That vote was 59 to 41 percent in favor.
In addition, the renewal of the property tax for the area detention facility also easily won approval with 72 percent of the vote.

Clay Grant Enters Congressional Race


Another person announces his candidacy for the 5th district congressional race this fall.
Clay Grant of Rapides Parish is a member of the Libertarian Party and has run for office before.

He’s seeking the seat being vacated by Vance McAllister.

Police Investigating Weekend Shootings in Central Louisiana

Two unrelated shootings occurred in the Central Louisiana area over the weekend.
Rapides Deputies are investigating a Saturday afternoon shooting in the Deville area.  It happened on Paul Cemetery Road.  The condition of the victim is unknown.

Tioga Teen Dies in Accidental Shooting


Rapides Deputies say a Tioga teen died yesterday afternoon after an accidental shooting.
Sheriff William Earl Hilton says 17-year-old Tony Lawson and his friends were handling a gun they thought was empty, but it discharged.  A bullet hit the victim once and killed him.
