Deputies Make Arrests in Possible Shoplifting Ring

Rapides deputies make two arrests in what they believe is a shoplifting ring. Jake Chimento Junior and Cindy Brooks are accused of stealing more than 15 thousand dollars in merchandise from mainly Wal-Mart stores across the state and pawned them. APD Investigate Shooting of 16 Year Old

Alexandria police are investigating the shooting of a 16-year-old girl.
They were called to the 52 hundred block of Lacassine around 8:20 last night. When they arrived, they found the girl shot from a fight that had just taken place.
She suffered non-life threatening injuries.

11 Convicted in Welfare Fraud

The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services announces convictions of 11 in the state that fraudulently received more than 81 thousand dollars in welfare benefits.

The Rapides Sheriff’s Office says crooks are calling and claiming to be from the department. They claim you owe money over outstanding warrants.
They office says it never collects such money over the phone, so please do not give such callers any money.

Man Accused of Firearm Crimes to Remain in Federal Custody

A man accused of firearm crimes will remain in federal custody.
In August, Catahoula deputies say they seized explosives and automatic weapons from 55-year-old Bill Wesley Womack’s home in Jonesville.
