CLEDA Hosts Federal Reserve Executive

The Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance features a regional federal banking official at today’s annual investor luncheon. It’s an appreciation event for the investors who participate in CLEDA. They invited Tom Cunningham, a regional executive with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta to address the group.

15-year-old E’mya Osteen is 5 foot 6 inches and weighs around 140 pounds. They believe she may be headed to New Orleans.

Convicted APD Officer May Have 50-Year Sentence Reduced

A former Alexandria police officer, convicted of improper behavior with a minor, will have a chance to have his 50-year prison sentence reduced. The appeals court says Walter Urena should have less than a 40-year sentence as part of his punishment, because he’s a first time offender.

Tomorrow is tax day in Louisiana for individuals. The easiest way to file is on the state’s web site.
Here’s a reminder if you need an extension: submit that request by tomorrow to avoid penalties. This gives you more time to file a return, but does not allow more time to pay.

Road Construction to begin on Pineville Expressway

Road construction is a sign of summer.
Work begins tomorrow on the entry and exit ramps of the Pineville Expressway between Highway 165 and the Purple Heart Bridge. The workers will patch and seal the concrete pavement.
Construction is expected to last at least four months, with alternating temporary lane and ramp closures in both directions.

“Stamp Out Hunger” Brings in Record Donations

Stamp Out Hunger in our area brings in more food than ever this time around.
Postal employees picked up more than 51 thousand pounds of non-perishable food Saturday. That’s 18 thousand pounds more than last year’s donations.
The Food Bank of Central Louisiana will distribute this food through its various partners throughout the coming months.
