Recycled Mardi Gras Beads Featured in Artwork

Recycled Mardi Gras beads get a new life as part of a traveling art exhibit called Bead Town.  Right now it’s in Natchitoches.

Soon-To-Be Teachers Receive Practical Experience


Not all students are out of school.  Today and tomorrow, these lucky students participate in what is called Camp Carter.  It’s staffed by education majors from LSU Alexandria at Carter C. Former CEO of CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital Dies


Services are tomorrow in Houston for Sister Olive Bordelon, former CEO of Saint Frances Cabrini Hospital.  Sister Olive died last week after a long illness.
She headed Cabrini from 1995 to 1998.  She was a Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word and a native of Morganza.  Sister Olive was extremely loved by the Cabrini family.

Vernon Deputy Killed in Accident


A retired state trooper and current Vernon Deputy is killed this morning on Highway 8.
Troopers say 54-year-old Steven Netherland of Simpson lost control of his car in a construction zone and hit two dirt compactors and a large roadway stabilizer.

Street Closings For Sports Hall Of Fame Museum Opening


Front and Washington Streets in Natchitoches will be closed from Church Street to Texas Street on Friday, June 28, 2013, for the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Museum Opening.  The streets will be closed to traffic beginning at 6:00 p.m. and will reopen at 9:00 p.m.

Alexandria Man Arrested for Heroine


An Alexandria man is arrested after deputies say he delivered heroine to a hotel guest.
Police say Isaac Williams Junior tried to get away, hitting a detective with his bicycle, which sent the officer over a car hood and onto the ground.  The detective suffered minor injuries.

Alexandria Man Arrested for Assault and Battery


Rapides deputies arrest an Alexandria man for assault and battery of a woman in Boyce.  Hilary Barnes is accused of forcing his way into a former girlfriend’s home and threatening her with a knife.  When deputies arrived, they say the man ran off after driving his vehicle into a ditch.
