A home burglary ends with shots being fired and two people from Alexandria behind bars.  42 year old Darren Brown and 30 year old Abigail Keller are accused of firing shots in the 16 hundred block of Stanford on July 3rd.  No one was hurt.

Rapides deputies say a Woodworth man had to be tased after resisting arrest for suspected heroin sales.
Adrion Logan was arrested after a car chase Tuesday night in the vicinity of Broadway.

LSUA Celebrates Independence Day

LSU Alexandria has already celebrated Independence Day by hosting a cookout today.  The students, staff, faculty and friends were invited for burgers, dogs, fixin’s and dessert.  Students also set up an obstacle course.  There were also board games and volleyball.  The student body band performed.

Man Tries Smuggling Meth into Downtown Jail

Rapides jailers say a recently arrested man tried to smuggle meth into the downtown jail.  Deputies say 36-year-old William Blake of Alexandria was arrested on Tuesday for distribution and contraband.  He’s now being held without bond.

After a local vet passed away suddenly, many animals he had rescued were left looking for new homes.  Many have been placed with families, but others are still at the Lester Veterinary Clinic on Lee Street Extension and they need a new home.
