2 Arrested in Still-Smoking Meth Lab

Grant Deputies say they encountered a still-smoking meth lab as they were trying to serve a routine civil citation. Charles Gross and Ethan Redd were arrested both for operation of a lab, conspiracy, reckless handling of hazardous materials and drug paraphernalia.
Deputies say they found the lab on Friday.

Judge Randow to Run for 9th District Despite Age Restriction

Chief Judge Harry Randow of the 9th Judicial District says he will qualify to run in November 4th election despite a 70-year-old cap on age.
Randow notes there will be a proposed constitutional amendment on the November ballot, which lifts that ban. That would then permit him to be elected and take office January 1st.

Fort Polk Welcomes Vermont Nat’l Guard Soldiers

Fort Polk is welcoming soldiers from another state for some crucial training. Around 35 hundred soldiers from the Vermont Army National Guard are at Fort Polk conducting training.
The 86th IBCT Mountain is the only National Guard to conduct the rotation in 2014.

LSUA To Offer New Course in Agriculture

A new course offering at LSU of Alexandria will team up with the Baton Rouge campus to provide a concentration in agriculture. This will be within the biology department and is especially good for students who want an Ag curriculum.

Man Dies After Crashing into Empty House

Leesville police respond to a fire yesterday involving a vehicle and a home. The driver of an SUV lost control and plowed into an empty home.
Police say the driver, whose name has not been released, was killed.

Troopers say 27-year-old James Henry Thompson III of Trout was in the eastbound lane of Highway 8 near Jena when a pick up truck hit him.

Sweet corn from Bunkie is for sale all over Central Louisiana.
The annual Louisiana Corn Festival ended Saturday. This festival represented everything corn, including art, cooking contests, and even recipes for you to tryout at home.
