Local Legislators Actively Opposing New Bridge Name

There’s more fall-out from that bill which re-names the bridge now being built across the Red River. Alexandria State Representative Lance Harris and Natchitoches Senator Gerald Long say they both have contacted the governor asking him to veto house bill 1140.

Garden District Residents Creating Community Garden

Residents of the Garden District in Alexandria are creating their own community garden. Bennett Roland Junior says it’s a project that will provide vegetables and herbs for those willing to get their hands dirty.

Nanny Arrested for Yearlong String of Thefts

Rapides detectives arrest a nanny and housekeeper they say stole from a family and posted pictures of the items on social media sites.
Detectives arrested Chasity Ashworth yesterday for felony theft of more than 7 thousand dollars of property. Detectives say the items were taken over a yearlong period.

Glenmora Woman Arrested for Stabbing

Rapides deputies arrest a Glenmora woman for a stabbing. Savannah Hargrove is charged with aggravated battery.
Deputies say they were called to the one thousand block of West River Road in Glenmora on Monday morning.
The victim was reportedly treated and released.

LA Nat’l Guard Soldiers Return from Kuwait Today

Family and friends welcome Louisiana National Guard soldiers home from Kuwait. The 844th and the 1021st Engineer Companies are coming home today.
The 844th is based in Pineville with two detachments in Ruston and Monroe. They deployed 160 soldiers to support Operation Enduring Freedom. They conducted operations to maintain and upgrade base camps.
