Alexandria Man Arrested for Crack Possession

A routine patrol results in the arrest of two men — one on a drug charge.  It happened Monday near Levin and Kent Streets.
Alexandra police arrested 58-year-old Gordon Brower for possession of crack and 25-year-old Cedrick Hongo for a probation violation.  Both are from Alexandria.

Folk Fest Theme: Cattle & Horses

Lawn Mower Thief Arrested

Alexandria Police say they’ve solved the theft of lawn mowers from Rabalais Small Engine on Windermere.
They’ve arrested 39-year-old Charles Coutee of Alexandria for felony theft.  Police say he took three expensive turning mowers July 5th.

CLEDA Promotes Locally Grown Produce

A local foods group is meeting to promote locally grown products.  This group is made up of representatives from six surrounding parishes, in addition to Rapides.  Their goal is to promote locally grown foods for profit and for better health.
CLEDA, the Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, is spearheading the effort.

A group of Lafayette area students is spending a week at LSU Alexandria.  They left Lafayette earlier this week.
72 juniors and seniors will spend a week getting first-hand experience at staying on a campus, leaving home and deciding on careers.  It’s called GearUp, and the young people say it’s wonderful.
