There had been plans to lift a moratorium on bingo parlors, but that proposal is being delayed.

APD Arrest Man for Theft from Lowe’s


Alexandria Police arrest a local man for theft from Lowe’s. John Henry Lee III was arrested very early this morning in the vicinity of Lee Street and Industrial Drive.
Officers say they found a stolen mower and edger. He’s also accused of possession of burglary tools.

Police Searching for Owners of Recovered Property

Rapides deputies need your help to identify recovered, stolen property. Deputies say they’ve solved a case, made the arrests, but now they need to return items taken from storage buildings on Highway 28 East.
Anyone who has made a report within the past year needs to contact the sheriff’s office.

Appeals Court Declines Appeal of Sex Offender Police Officer


An appeals court declines to rehear the case of a veteran police officer sentenced to 40 years for sex offenses. 67-year-old Walter Urena is serving time for improper sexual contact with a child.

Glenmora Man Arrested for Burglarizing Same Store Twice


Rapides deputies arrest a Glenmora man for breaking in to a Forest Hill convenience store twice. He’s 20-year-old Justin Blake Perry, charged with burglary.
Deputies say the first break-in happened Friday night and the second one on Sunday night.

The SGA President at LSU of Alexandria is the new student member of the LSU Board of Supervisors. Brandon Crain was selected by other student body presidents to represent them on the board of supervisors.
He’s the 3rd LSUA student ever elected to this board.
