17 Arrested in Prostitution Bust

Alexandria Police say they’ve arrested 17 people in a prostitution bust. They’re from all over the Central Louisiana area, including Natchez, Mississippi, and range in age from 18 to 43. All are charged with solicitation.
The bust was conducted by APD with the Central Louisiana State Streets and FBI task forces over a 2-day period.

Alexandria Woman Accused of Welfare Fraud

An Alexandria woman is among a group accused of welfare fraud. Alexis Blackwell has received a probated sentence for taking 25 hundred dollars from welfare.
Authorities say she improperly claimed her children lived with her, making her eligible for benefits.

Bridge Closure: OK Allen Bridge Over Red River

A reminder for those of you who drive between Alexandria and Pineville: get ready for possibly a longer commute.
Tomorrow through Thursday, the OK Allen Bridge will be closed for inspection from nine until three during the day.
The suggested detour is from Interstate 49 south to the Cottingham Expressway.

The state Office of Motor Vehicles is now accepting more than one form of payment.
Customers can now pay fees with debit cards, credit cards and e-check. There are fees attached to using plastic and e-checks.
