Grant deputies arrest a couple in the Springhill Community for reportedly trying to sell drugs to children.

Registration Deadline Extended for Children’s Camp

The Alexandria City Day Camp is so successful; the registration deadline is being extended.
Sign-up for the camp at the former Boys and Girls Club is extended to Monday July 7th.

An uninhabited house fire early this morning destroys a wooden, shot-gun structure at 1963 Overton in Alexandria.
The call went in to the Alexandria Fire Department shortly after 8:30 a.m., and was stopped in about 5 minutes.

The Watermelon Festival Kicks off in DeRidder

The 9th Beauregard Watermelon Festival is underway in DeRidder.
Today’s ceremonial cutting of the melon is followed by shows and a dance party.
It celebrates the famous Sugartown watermelon with contests, rides, music and food.
It runs from 4 p.m. to midnight Friday and from 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday.
All events are at the Beauregard Parish Fairgrounds.
