Local Man Arrested for Kidnapping

Alexandria Police arrest a local man for kidnapping.  Police say 52-year-old Keith Honore beat up a 27-year-old woman in the 38 hundred block of Spencer Tuesday.
They say he forced her into a car.  She managed to escape and call police.  She was not seriously injured.
APD are still investigating the details.

Weather Disrupts Spring Qualifying

The weather interrupted qualifying for spring elections in one Central Louisiana parish.  LaSalle Parish will have extended days to qualify for Tuesday.
Meanwhile, qualifying in other area parishes will end tomorrow afternoon at 4:30.  These are races for villages, towns and cities and do include Pineville in Rapides Parish.

Judy Caplan Ginsburgh Alexandria’s Newest Rabbi

Judy Caplan Ginsburgh is the newest rabbi in Alexandria.  Bennett Roland Junior attended services at the Jewish temple where she was honored for her latest achievement, which she says has been a 30-year journey.

There were outages throughout the night and this morning and some residents are still waiting to have their electricity restored.  There were extra problems in rural areas where CLECO workers were challenged by falling limbs and ice.

Power Outage at Alexandria’s Well Field in Kisatchie

Due to the icy conditions, a power outage at Alexandria’s well field in the Kisatchie National Forest is causing some problems.
The city is asking that residents conserve water.

City officials say there’s no need to hoard water, this is just a precautionary action.  Power has been restored but city crews will remain on site until 7pm.

Qualifying This Week for Spring Elections

Qualifying for spring elections takes place tomorrow in 9 Louisiana parishes.  The qualifying period lasts through Friday afternoon.  The elections are Saturday, April 5th, and Saturday, May 3rd.
Elections are scheduled in Rapides, Avoyelles, Evangeline, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Saint Landry, Vernon and Winn parishes.  Rapides elections will be held in the City of Pineville.

Central Louisiana is dealing with its 4th winter weather advisory in just a couple weeks.  Freezing temperatures and periods of freezing rain closed down schools today.
