The numbers are in for fall enrollment at LSU of Alexandria. The school has made a big push in the last few years to increase the number of students who choose this school.

5 area airports will be receiving almost 10 million dollars in federal funds.
The biggest share goes to Alexandria International, some 7 million dollars. The rest is allotted among Allen Parish, Leesville and Marksville’s airports.

There was a free child safety fair today. It provided families with digital fingerprints and photographs of their children. Community organizations provided information about keeping kids safe.

RPSB President Withdraws from School Board Election

In a surprise announcement this afternoon, the Rapides Parish School Board President says she is withdrawing from the November 4th primary. Instead, she’ll endorse the other African-American democrat in the race, Willard McCall.

Buddy Caldwell Warns of IRS Scam

State Attorney General Buddy Caldwell says some Louisianans are receiving threatening phone calls that are scams. The callers say they’re from the IRS and demand immediate payment.
The IRS does not contact people by phone. Officials say just hang up, and never give the caller any personal information.
