More opportunities for classes at Learning Center this fall

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office breaks up what appears to be a very large and organized dog-fighting ring.  34-year-old John Daniels of Beaumont, Texas and 30-year-old Frank Williams of Alexandria are arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and dog fighting.

Alexandria Man Charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder


A 20-year-old man from Alexandria is charged with attempted second-degree murder in connection with a case that happened on September 30th.
Avoyelles Parish Detectives arrested Hoo Ngam Chau after responding to the scene of an alleged domestic battery.  Chau told detectives he and the victim were fighting over money.

State Treasurer Attacks NGO’s


State Treasurer John Kennedy is on the attack against NGOs, non-governmental organizations, that are on the public dole.  Some of them, he says, are not accountable for tax dollars.

Colfax Police Chief Arrested for Theft


The Police Chief in Colfax is arrested for theft.  He’s 43-year-old Charles Stickell of Colfax.  Grant Sheriff’s Deputies say they acted on a complaint and an investigation.
This is an appointed position.  So, it will be up to the Mayor and council to decide if Stickell remains on the job until the legal matter is finished.
