2 Arrested in Theft of 46 Cigarette Cartons

Two Alexandria men are arrested for stealing 46 cartons of cigarettes worth around four thousand dollars from a convenience store.
Clinton Branch Junior and Charles Demonte Hall, both 33, are charged with felony theft in the incident that happened July 3rd on Highway 28 East.
Deputies say video surveillance led them to the men.

Pineville and Alexandria police are charging 36-year-old Desmond Price of Alexandria for a purse snatching and theft at both cities’ Walmarts. He was captured Friday after a high-speed chase that ended in the 500 block of Solomon Street in Alexandria.
He’s charged with robbery, burglary, aggravated flight, reckless operation, plus no driver’s license.

Local State Trooper Honored for Bravery

State police single out an area trooper for bravery. State Trooper Thurman Miller, of Troop E, headquartered in Alexandria, assisted in a hostage situation in Tensas Parish almost a year ago, leading to the person’s release.
The awards were made yesterday in Baton Rouge.

More Sexual Conduct Charges Filed on Man Arrested Monday

Rapides deputies place more criminal sexual conduct charges against a Pineville man arrested Monday. 41-year-old Christopher McGrew now faces additional charges of three counts of aggravated rape, 15 counts of pornography involving children and one of computer aided solicitation of a child.

4 Teens Arrested for Vehicle Break-Ins

Four juveniles are arrested for vehicle burglaries in the one thousand block of MacArthur Drive and the 12 hundred block of Texas Avenue. Police say they were caught last night a few blocks from one of the crime scenes, though nothing was taken.
The juveniles range in age from 14 to 16.
