There are two new candidates in the race for Alexandria mayor. Jeff Hall, who’s been a lobbyist for CLECO, announced this morning he’s running.

Woman Arrested for Vehicle Theft


On July 19th, 2014, Deputies from the Deville Substation responded to the 400 Block of Barney Rush Rd. Deville, LA in reference to theft of a motor vehicle. Upon the deputies arrival, the victim had no information about a suspect.

Alexandria Woman Arrested for Stabbing


On July 25, 2014, Alexandria Police responded to a reported battery in the 100 Block of Mary Street. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject that had been stabbed.

Basile Housing Authority ED Accused of Theft of Public Funds

State authorities issue a critical audit for the housing authority of Basile in Evangeline Parish.
The Louisiana Legislative Auditor says the housing authority’s executive director Anisa Richardson used almost eight thousand dollars in tenant fees over a two-year period for her personal use.
The investigative audit has been sent to criminal authorities.

Alcohol Suspected in Weekend Crash

State police suspect alcohol in a crash that killed a man in Natchitoches Parish just after midnight Saturday on Highway 174.
Troopers say Wallace Jones of Pleasant Hill was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially thrown from his pick-up. Investigators say he apparently lost control and hit a ditch before overturning.

Police Arrest Murder Suspect After Man Hunt


Julius Jamal Garnett, age 28, of 4015 Lakeside Drive, Alexandria, LA is in custody after a 24 hour manhunt. Garnett surrendered to Alexandria Police Detectives at approximately 7:00 p.m. on July 26.
