New GOP Candidate Running for Senate

Another GOP candidate announces he’s running for the U.S. Senate.  Rob Maness is from Saint Tammany Parish and he’s trying to get his name out.

Congressman Bill Cassidy is also running in the republican primary.  The winner will take on incumbent Mary Landrieu next year.

Work Begins on Alexandria Holocaust Memorial


The spire that will be the centerpiece of the Alexandria Holocaust Memorial arrives this morning.
The granite obelisk is 18 feet high.  The memorial is developing at the corner of 4th and Elliott in the downtown area.  The 100-thousand-dollar structure is being paid for entirely by private donations, and most of the money has been raised.  [...]

Boyce Man Arrested for Vehicular Homicide


State Police say a man from Boyce is charged with vehicular homicide in an overnight crash that killed a woman.  The victim is 28-year-old Danielle Stricklin of Sieper.  Charged is the driver of a pick-up in which Stricklin was a passenger.  He’s 34-year-old Dusty Smith.

Another Arrest Made in Dog-Fighting Case


Rapides Deputies make another arrest in a dog-fighting ring they say they uncovered over the weekend.
He’s 27-year-old Otis Cassanova Harris of Baker.  He’s charged with criminal trespassing, conspiracy and drug possession in addition to dog fighting.  He was arrested after trying to retrieve his vehicle, which was impounded Saturday night.

Alexandria Teenage Girl Missing


Alexandria Police are searching for a missing teenage girl.  15-year-old Jamie Lakeisha Davis didn’t return home on September 27th and hasn’t been heard from.
Family and friends say she typically goes by Keisha or Lakeisha.  She is 5’1” and weighs about 110 pounds.  She lives in the 57 hundred block of Samuel.
