State Revenue Dept. Offers Late Taxpayers Deal

It’s not exactly a do-over, but it is a fresh start.  The State Revenue Department is offering a way for taxpayers to catch up when they get behind on their taxes.

The program ends November 22nd.  For more information, visit the Dept. of Revenue’s website.

Inmate Recaptured After Walk-Off

An inmate trustee who’s accused of walking off a work detail is recaptured in Natchitoches Parish.  Deputies say Randy Girod of Columbia was caught when Natchitoches Police found a suspicious truck on a dead-end road.
He’s now charged with escape and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Rapides Deputies report a trustee with a parish work crew walked off the detail around noon and is being sought.
He’s 28-year-old Randy Allen Girod of Columbia.  He is 5 foot 10 inches and weighs about 155 pounds.  Girod has a tattoo of the sun on his right shoulder.

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech University’s Forestry Department held a reception Wednesday to thank members of the Martin Foundation, the charitable arm of the RoyOMartin Companies, for a donation of four vans to be used by forestry faculty and students.

Pedestrian Body Identified

A Fort Polk soldier killed early Friday has been identified.  He’s Carlos Phillip Cirera and his family is from California.
State Police say they responded to a call in Vernon Parish about 4:30 am and found the victim in the eastbound lane of Highway 1211.  Police say he was the victim of a hit-and-run driver.
