3 Natchitoches Parish Residents Named in Federal Indictment

3 area residents are among those named in a federal indictment for cocaine conspiracy: Quincy Hoover and Quwanda Forest, both of Natchez, LA in Natchitoches parish, and Rodney Raymond of Natchitoches.
The conspiracy charges allege they sold drugs and violated firearms laws in 7 parishes, including Natchitoches.

Early Morning Crash Leaves 2 Women Dead

Two women are killed in an early morning crash in Rapides Parish. They are 31-year-old Heather C. McComic of Boyce, the driver, and 29-year-old Ashley Gallien.
Troopers say after midnight McComic lost control of her car on Highway 1205 and hit a tree. Gallien was her only passenger. They weren’t wearing seatbelts.

Two suspects are arrested for weapons and narcotics charges after a reported assault with a gun in the 700 block of Everett Street.
Derrick Thomas Junior and Jacorey Robinson, both of Alexandria, are charged with drug possession and a firearm offense.

2 Arrested on Lee After Shots Fired

Alexandria police arrest two people after reports of shots fired late Monday in the 44 hundred block of Lee Street. Dametris Bowles and Jazzmyn Wellington, both of Alexandria, are both charged with discharge of a gun in a roadway and possession of a gun with a destroyed serial number.
Wellington is also charged with drug possession.

Lawsuit Filed on Common Core

Parents and teachers who support common core file a lawsuit against the governor. The lawsuit claims Governor Bobby Jindal’s efforts to suspend testing contracts to undermine common core is a violation of the state constitution.

Servies for Larry Jeane to Be Held Thursday

Services for Pineville and Ward Marshal Larry Jeane will be held Thursday morning at 10 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Pineville.
Jeane died Sunday as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was 68.

A neighbor spots a man very early this morning taking items from a shed on Jackson Street.
Ricky Williams of Alexandria is now charged with aggravated burglary, felon in possession of a gun and possession of burglary tools. Police say they found him with stolen items, including a chain saw.

Husband and Wife Die in Crash

A husband and wife from Columbia are killed in a crash in LaSalle Parish. Troopers say 72-year-old Margie Moore collided with an oncoming car on Highway 28 East near U.S. 84. Her husband, 83-year-old Bluith Moore was the passenger.
The crash happened on Sunday afternoon.
