Lacey Sanchez of Baton Rouge is now the new Miss Louisiana. She was chosen out of 32 contestants in the annual pageant Saturday night in Monroe. This was the 51st year for the event there.

Alexandria Mayor Jacques M. Roy lifted the water conservation order as of 9 a.m. today.
The 42” transmission main from the Kisatchie Fields, which sustained a blowout on Saturday, June 28, was returned to service about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

State of Emergency Declared in Alexandria

The Alexandria mayor, Jacque Roy has declared a state of emergency because of a water well blowout near Woodworth. All are asked to conserve water, and the city will close all non-essential businesses that use a lot of water. Residents must shut off sprinkler systems.

The city of Alexandria gets an “atta-boy” today. It is named cleanest city in its category by the State Garden Club Federation.

Registration Deadline Extended for Children’s Camp

The Alexandria City Day Camp is so successful; the registration deadline is being extended.
Sign-up for the camp at the former Boys and Girls Club is extended to Monday July 7th.
The camps run from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Camp will end August 8th.
