Authorities Investigating Oil Spill in Bayou Phillip

The City of Alexandria has reported and is now investigating an oil spill into Bayou Phillip.  Authorities say they believe the spill is less than 180 gallons, and the State Department of Environmental Quality has been properly notified.
The spill was discovered Tuesday morning at the public works compound.

LC Nursing Students Earn High Scores on National Exams

Some great news for Louisiana College nursing students.  They have a 90 percent, first time pass rate for the national required graduate exam.  That’s above the 87 percent state average.
Nursing School Dean Kimberly Sharp says this is a remarkable achievement.

Rapides Deputies Searching for Escapee

Rapides Deputies are looking for an escapee, but they say he is not considered dangerous.
27-year-old Jonathan Webster of Alexandria is currently serving a sentence for burglary and theft.

Millwright Training Course Being Offered in Jena

A millwright-training course will be offered next week at the Brady Campus of the VoTech school in Jena.
This is a short-term apprentice-training program to fill some 40 to 50 entry-level positions at Universal Plant Services in Jena.  The classroom will look like the one you see here in Alexandria.
