Another Central Louisiana university will go smoke-free. Northwestern says it will rid itself of tobacco by August 1st. LSU of Alexandria made the announcement last week to do the same.

The long-time president and CEO of Rapides Regional Medical Center, Julius McLaurin, has died at the age of 90.
He ran the hospital from 19-70 to 1988 and steered the hospital from its ownership by the Louisiana Baptist Convention into what became Rapides Regional.
