Rotary Hears About Lessons From World War One

It’s is the centennial of World War One, the war to end all wars, but it didn’t, of course. Today, the Downtown Rotary Club heard from two Avoyelles Public Charter School teachers about what we’ve learned 100 years later.

Jewish Temple Celebrates 155 Years

The Jewish Temple of Alexandria celebrates over the weekend. The historic congregation is now 155 years old. A plaque was placed near the building and the facility is now on the historic registry list.

Alexandria Zoo Preps for Les Fest

Friends of the Alexandria Zoo are getting ready for Les Fest Weekend. It features a Thursday night party for adults and a Saturday, all-day event for all ages.

The party is Thursday night, September 25th, and the all-day event is Saturday, the 27th.

POW, MIA Ceremony Held Today at VA

Those who never returned are remembered today at a VA hospital service. The guest speaker for this POW-MIA ceremony is Colonel Glenn Moore, Garrison Commander at Fort Polk.

The annual ceremony is designed to thank and remember those who were prisoners and the ones who for whom there are still question marks.

LSUA Students Participate in Constitution Panel

Constitution Week continues at LSUA. Today, students participated in a panel discussion on the Constitution.
All week students have been celebrating the charter, which binds all Americans, celebrating its foundation and, more-importantly, learning more about it. This is a tradition at the school.
