Economic Dev. Authority Hands Out Grants

The Economic Development Authority fueled by hotel taxes is handing out more than seven thousand dollars in hospitality grants.
One will go to entertain the crew of the nuclear sub USS Alexandria, which will visit next month. The other is for a state welcome center blitz, also next month.

There’s some good news as the school year is about to begin for LSUA. The school is the recipient of a major gift. Almost three million dollars is being donated from the estate of Anne and John McCann.
McCann retired from the railroads, and his wife Anne was a homemaker.

Boil Advisory Issued for Parts of Alexandria

Alexandria, Louisiana—Damage to a 12-inch water pipe Monday has resulted in the need for a boil water advisory for a small part of the city, according to Utility Director Michael Marcotte.

LSUA is offering dual enrollment that may fit in with the plans of some students who want a fast track for their college work.  Now is the time to inquire about how this program works.

Move-In Day at the Oaks Apartments at LSUA

It’s move-in day at the Oaks Apartments on the campus of LSU of Alexandria. They started early this morning and continued all day.
Volunteers, staff and some faculty at the school have turned this into a resource day. Area businesses set up tables to advertise and familiarize students with their new surroundings.

Another candidate is out of the gate for Pineville City Marshal. Jay Slayter is currently the commander for the Rapides Parish Corrections Emergency Response Team.

Students May Now Register For ROTC Classes At LSUA

ALEXANDRIA, LA – LSUA students interested in participating in ROTC may now register for Military Science courses beginning this fall.
LSUA ROTC students will take Military Physical Fitness courses at the LSUA campus and all other ROTC courses will be taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Natchitoches at Northwestern State University of Louisiana.
