LA Farmers Begin Harvesting Rice Crops

Louisiana farmers are harvesting their rice crops when they get a break from the frequent rain. LSU AgCenter Correspondent Tobie Blanchard visited a rice field still wet from the previous day’s downpour.

Louisiana has about 430 thousand acres of rice. This is up slightly from last year when farmers had 410 thousand.

The national tax preparation business, H&R Block had a career fair today. They’re touting their income tax course.
They say there were more than 13-hundred federal and state tax code changes just in the past year. This almost demands people consult professionals around tax time.

Natchitoches Police Search for Missing Girl

Natchitoches police need help finding a missing woman who is mentally disabled. 28-year-old Ebony Prater was last seen Saturday at noon at her home on University Drive. She lives with her mother. She’s 5 foot 8 inches and weighs about 200 pounds.

Local Sonic Employees Head to Dr. Pepper Games

Seven Sonic waiters in Pineville are leaving bright and early in the morning for New Orleans to compete in the Doctor Pepper Games. These employees at the Monroe Highway Sonic beat out almost 3-thousand other contestants to win the trip and the right to compete against 11 other teams from throughout the nation.

Services are tomorrow morning at 11 at Saint James Episcopal Church for prominent Alexandria businessman Sammy Dunbar. He passed away a week ago after a lengthy illness; he was 82.
