The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises the public that on September 9, rx 2013, construction will begin on the Douglas Road Bridge over Swafford Creek in Grant Parish. This work will begin 150’ east of the Douglas Road Bridge and continue 350’, ending at a location approximately 150’ west of the bridge.
The intent of this project is to remove the existing pipe crossing and construct a 3 span concrete bridge. Extensive erosion control measures are being used to reduce impact to downstream Louisiana Pearlshell Mussels in Swafford Creek. Approaches to the bridge will have a 8.5” thick class II base with two layers of superpave asphaltic concrete. Associated work includes placing aggregate surface course on shoulders, adding one cross drain pipe, and pavement striping.
The contractor will not be required to maintain thru traffic, but will be required to maintain local access to both sides of the project. The bridge has been closed for some time and will continue to be closed until the completion of the project.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Guinn Construction, LLC. in the amount of $321,104.00. The work associated with this project should take approximately 3 months to complete.
Permit/Detour section
Thru traffic will be not maintained, but access to either end of the project is available via Fairfield Rd. and LA122.
